Outstanding teachers are able to see potential in every child and provide the opportunity for them to excel. She thrives on helping human beings. This “she” I speak of is everything I will work to become. I am a good educator with a passion for children, a sound knowledge of subject matter, consistent classroom management and a collaborative spirit, but I will not become an outstanding educator without students.
Often people talk about their skill sets and list their resume without mentioning the “little people” who make this career worthwhile. The light they have in their eyes and the hope they represent create an outstanding teacher. It is true a teacher must be adaptable and capable in academics but the role of teacher extends beyond a textbook.

Teachers accommodate the academic, social, and emotional needs of their students. They are enthusiastic about subject matter and can make a task into an adventure. They are caregivers providing a band-aid, an ear, and compassion to children. An outstanding teacher is someone who taught you how to read, add and how to believe in yourself.

Teaching requirements are more than just teaching academic sills. You will have to be able to switch personalities at the blink of an eye. One minute you are teaching English, the next minute you will have to guide and advise a student on social and moral issues. Your job doesn't stop at educational issues you will need to be able to inspire and expand student's experiences.

Instructions

    • 1
In order to do this you must first make a positive connection with your students, one that can encourage and inspire them to want to listen to your advice.
    • 2
Next you will have to make them feel that you can be that missing piece in their lives a piece to the puzzle that can help them complete their missions, their goals. Don't look at their short comings, but encourage their weakness to shift to positive actions.
    • 3
Respect and support their dreams and push them in to doing the things that they actually want to do. Don't send them on an emotionally roller coaster like some parents do, by telling them their ideas are worthless.
    • 4
Your job is to leave a lasting imprint on a child that they can remember decades from now. One they can share with their kids. Become more than a teacher be an outstanding teacher!
